Hayleigh Hunter
Cheerful, hard working and determined, Hayleigh looks forward to sharing her experiences with her readers, and helping them in any way she can. She has many aspirations for the future, including but not limited to, publishing some of her longer writing pieces, completing her University degree well, and learning as much about the subjects that interest her as she can.
Although young, she has had many experiences that have impacted greatly upon her, and the way she lives her life, and would love to share the knowledge she has obtained with others who find themselves in similar situations.
Although struggling with depression from a young age, she has accomplished good grades in school, and is going on to University, despite having undergone several difficult family situations. These experiences have given her a great deal of strength and capability, along with a previously unknown resiliance, that she would greatly enjoy being able to share with others.
In her personal life, she has a great want for helping others, especially those struggling with family, social or mental health problems, due to her personal experiences of depression, having had sever family problems, and from having experience with friends and relatives with mental health problems, along with the social stigma that is attached to all of these.
Her primary interest is in Chemistry, although she is also interested in Biology, for which she has recieved two awards for Excellence in her studies. She is also a budding gardener, and has a strong affinity for, and interest in animals. Hayleigh's gardening interests reside primarily in houseplants, having successfully propagated several species including the common Spider Plant and Geranium, of which she sells a few locally. Her second and tertiary interests in gardening have sprung from her other beliefs - mainly sustainability. Growing vegetables, fruit and herbs is her secondary interest, and the produce is used in home-cooking. An avid believer in eco-friendly options, her tertiary interest in eco-friendly gardening grew alongside the other two. Combined with her interest in biology and biodiversity, this eco-friendly approach inspired her to establish a "wildlife garden", where several species have flourished, such as hedgehogs, many varieties of birds, the ever declining bee, and butterflies.
Like many others, her main focus point in animals are pets. Over the years many have found their way into her home - rabbits, cats, dogs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, fish, a horse, and a snake - and more will follow, she's sure!
However, out of all the animal kingdom, one stands out as her favourite- the rat - and it is these that she spends most of her time researching and writing about. Having kept rats for several years, and through researching a great deal about them before that - along with the theoretical and hands-on experience she has gained - her information has been a great help to many friends she has sesquentially made in the pet rat world, and now she feels ready to share her knowledge with whomever may need it.
